About us

For over 166 years, there has been a Lutheran community of faith in The Village of Union Deposit, Hershey, Pennsylvania.   In 1847, a group of Lutheran and Reformed worshipers laid the cornerstone for the church building.  The original church structure, which still stands was made of brick with two doors in the front of the church.  Through the years, adjustments have been made and additions built.  The additional space includes the Catherine M. Hocker Memorial Building (Christian Education Building) and consists of six classrooms, a kitchen and an all purpose room.  The church auditorium as well as the Christian Education Building have air conditioning.  Refer to our home page for a listing of service hours, bible groups and other activities at Zion.

Our church is involved in many missions.  Some are individual to our church, such as LoveINC, Road Clean-up, Christmas gifts for the needy, knitting, crocheting and looming hats and scarves for local charities, supporting the Ecumenical Food Bank, as well as various missions through our Synod.

Our question is always, "What is God's call to us now?"  Though we do not know what the future holds for Zion; we know that God has a vision which is discerned through prayer and study of the scriptures.  We know that God is the one who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist (Romans 4:17, NRSV).  This remains true throughout the ages.
