February 16 - HISTORY OF THE UNION CANAL
The presentation about the construction and operation of the Union Canal is hosted by South Hanover Historical Society
and Hummelstown Area Historical Society. Learn about the relationship of the Canal and Union Deposit. The talk is on
Sunday, February 16 at 2:00p.m. at the South Hanover Township Building, 161 Patriot Way, Hershey.

March through August - UNION DEPOSIT OF YESTERYEAR
Vintage Village photographs are displayed in the Lobby of the South Hanover Township Municipal Building at 161 Patriot
Way, Hershey. The show may be viewed during the Township's business hours. The exhibit features vintage schools,
churches, businesses, the Swatara Creek and street scenes.

During the month of April - THE HISTORIC CANAL HOUSE
Dine at the Union Canal House Restaurant, 107 South Hanover Street, which is the oldest business in Union Deposit and
South Hanover Township. The Canal House opened in 1751. It has special meals, desserts and drinks featured in a month
long celebration of the restaurant's role in Union Deposit. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from
5:00p.m. to 10:00p.m.

April 26 - WALK IN WILDFLOWERS ALONG THE MANADA CREEK
Take a guided walk along the Manada Creek in South Hanover Township starting at 1:00p.m.. The event is sponsored by
the Manada Conservancy and Horse-Shoe Trail Conservancy. Gides will help you look for wildflowers, enjoy the scenic
creek, and maybe see migrating birds. The Manada Creek feeds into the Swatara Creek and provided water for the Union
Canal. The area's creeks and towpaths were favorite sites 125 years ago for picnics, flower picking swimming and

May 3 - UNION DEPOSIT SCHOOL REUNION
The Reunion is Saturday, May 3 from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. in the South Hanover Township Building, 161 Patriot Way,
Hershey. A brief history of Union Deposit's four schools based on reflections of Annie Eisenhour and Richard Hartwell will
be presented. Individuals who attended any of the 5 one-room schools in the township are invited. Light refreshments and sharing of memories are planned. Vintage photographs will be displayed (See Above "March through August - Union
Deposit of Yesteryear").

May 17 - HOMECOMING CHURCH SERVICE
The congregation of Zion Lutheran Church and Pastor Ursula Schreffler invite everyone to a Homecoming Service at the
Church, 5 West Main Street at 10:30a.m. on Sunday, May 17. While attending church, admire the stained glass windows
which honor church members.

June 23 or 24 - CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR UNION DEPOSIT
Birthday cake and fruit are served to children in the South Hanover Township's Summer Recreation Program. Tales about
the Village and singing of Happy Birthday to honor Union Deposit are planned. The event is at the South Hanover
Elementary School, 15 West Third Street, Hershey.

July 4 - BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT PATRIOT PARK
Attend a free evening band concert in Patriot Park and enjoy birthday cake to celebrate Union Deposit's 175th
Anniversary. Celebrate July Fourth by watching the local fireworks from a vantage point on Patriot Way. The event is
sponsored by the South Hanover Township Administration.

July Event - THE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY GALA
Visit the website of the Volunteer Fire Company of Union Deposit to learn about its 103 year tradition of community
service. The website features memories and photographs. Plan to attend the Department's Annual Evening of Dinner,
Music and Wine Tasting at Cassel Vineyards of Hershey. Check the Fire Company's website to learn the date of the event
and to purchase tickets.

September, 2020 - SUSQUEHANNOCK NATIVE AMERICAN DISPLAY
Visit South Hanover Township Municipal Building at 161 Patriot Way, Hershey, during business hours to see the artifacts
in the lobby's display cases. The Hartwell family started searching in 1913 for points and other artifacts from the
encampments of the Susquehannocks along the Susquehanna, Swatara, Beaver and Manada Creeks. The Hartwells
believed an encampment site was behind the Union Deposit Cemetery.
